roberto mora
Born in Parma, Italy, in 1964, Roberto Mora claims to be a self-taught artist. Painter and graphic designer at the outset, in 1993 he embraces theory and practice of radical design, and starts his collaboration with the Dilmos gallery in Milan, a place which will gradually become a planning laboratory where to exhibit and promote his artefacts.
He favours iron, in its different shapes and origins, and makes of recycling a symbol. As he assembles the metal, his objects-works take shape, at the boundary of function and dystrophy of the form. Coarse and wild at the beginning, his work becomes lighter over the years. Lightness, transparency, re-examination and humour often characterise his most recent pieces.
Roberto is an atypical designer who is far from serial production. He exhibits his prototypes or limited series in international design events. Always present in Milan, his artefacts have been on display in Athens, Paris, Moscow and New York, and feature in important private collections and professional settings around the world.
Roberto can also create custom-tailored items of décor, following specific requests while at the same time maintaining his artistic flair. He lives and works in Sant'Ilario d'Enza (Italy).
